HOW TO BECOME AN EAST HELENA POLICE OFFICER<\/h1>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The East Helena Police Department has a full time staff of five sworn officers, reserve officers, and one administrative clerk.\u00a0

The City of East Helena currently has a population of approximately 2,000 people and is continuing to grow. The Highland Meadows Subdivision is currently under construction on the north end of town, which will add 315 homes to East Helena. The homes are going to be built over time, with an expected completion date of 2026. Work is also being done on the Vigilante Subdivision which will add an additional 72 homes. As these homes are built and the population expands, the EHPD will need to grow to meet the increased demands.

In addition to all of the new homes being built, East Helena is now home to four schools in the East Helena School District<\/a>. These include East Helena High School, East Valley Middle School, Prickly Pear Elementary School, and Radley Elementary School.

We also work closely with other law enforcement agencies such as the Helena Police Department, the Lewis & Clark County Sheriffs Office, and the Montana Highway Patrol to name a few. The Helena area is rapidly expanding, and East Helena officers can expect to frequently work alongside other agencies to serve our citizens and the surrounding area.

The hiring process consists of a number of steps required by state law which include:

Application screening<\/p>

Written exam and Montana Physical Abilities Test (6:30min or less)<\/p>

Panel interview<\/p>

Background investigation<\/p>

Medical examination<\/p>

Psychological examination<\/p>

Final interview with the mayor<\/p>

Approval from the police commission

If you are successful with the hiring process, you will undergo a 3 month training program with the Montana Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA) as well as field training (FTO).
