The City of East Helena yard clipping site, located off of Plant Road, is closed for the season starting on December 1st. This site will reopen in Spring of 2022.
Please note we will only be accepting yard/grass clipping next year. Brush and tree limbs will need to be hauled to Valley View Land fill across from Kleffner Ranch. If you need access during winter months, or have any questions, please contact Public Works Director Kevin Ore at 406-459-3769.
City of East Helena administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 25th and 26th for the Thanksgiving holiday. If your garbage is normally picked up on Thursday, it will be picked up on Friday, November 26th.
The City of East Helena yard waste site and recycling containers, that are located off of plant road, will be closed for use due to road construction starting on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 through Monday, November 15, 2021.
East Helena Halloween Trick-or-Treating along Main Street, Sunday, October 31, 5PM-7PM. Main Street Merchants will be open for Trick-or-Treating with two haunted houses, visit the East Helena Fire Station and City Hall for extra treats! J4 Auto will have their annual Halloween Movie, this year’s feature “Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost” starting at Dusk in Main Street Park! City crews are continuing stop sign implementation west of Montana Ave. This includes new stop signs at all intersections that connect to Gail Street, and also 1st and Groschell Street. Any questions please contact public works Kevin Ore at 406-459-3769.
Starting Monday, September 27th through Thursday, September 30th, traffic on Main Street in front of 15 West Main will be partially closed to east bound traffic. Lane closure is due to a water line repair which is located across from Eagles 4040. Please remain cautious while traveling through this area.
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Helena Sand and Gravel will be making roadway improvements to Lake Helena Drive in Lewis and Clark County. Construction is scheduled to begin the week of September 27, 2021. The project begins at the intersection of East Main Street and Lake Helena Drive at RP 0.0. It continues for approximately 0.5 miles north, ending just south of the intersection of Lewis Street and Lake Helena Drive. Construction includes milling and paving to improve the surface, pavement marking and signage will also be upgraded. Milling, hauling, and paving operations are anticipated to be completed in 3 days, depending on the weather, other work will be completed by the end of October.
Road closure dates will be posted when available.
Work will occur 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Delays of up to 15 minutes may be encountered.
Expect single-lane traffic on Lake Helena Drive controlled by signals and/or flaggers.
Part of this work will require full closure of Lake Helena Drive between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, daily. Lewis Street will remain open during these times.
Expect reduced speeds. Please use caution through work zones, and watch for workers on the roadway and shoulder, and vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.
The City of East Helena is continuing its stop sign revision work east of Montana Ave. Crews will be placing stop signs at the intersections of East Riggs Street for all cross-traffic between Montana Avenue and Kalispell Avenue. They will also be removing stop signs at the intersections of Grand and Groschell; Grand and Dudley; and Clark and Prickly Pear. This work is scheduled to take place on Thursday 9/23/2021. East Riggs Street between Montana Avenue & Kalispell Avenue
Northwestern Energy will be performing work for their gas gate station located at 112 Wylie Drive on September 1st. All Wylie Drive traffic between Main Street and Gail Street will be detoured to Third Street from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
