Christmas Tree Pickup

The City of East Helena Public Works Department will be picking up Christmas trees every Tuesday for the month of January.  Please place your tree streetside in the right-of-way.  For additional information please contact Public Works Director Kevin Ore (406) 459-3769.

East Helena Halloween Trick-or-Treating along Main Street, Sunday, October 31, 5PM-7PM.
Main Street Merchants will be open for Trick-or-Treating with two haunted houses, visit the East Helena Fire Station and City Hall for extra treats!
J4 Auto will have their annual Halloween Movie, this year’s feature “Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost” starting at Dusk in Main Street Park!

Monday, May 31st City Offices Closed for Memorial Day

The City of East Helena City Hall will be closed on Monday, May 31, 2021 for Memorial Day and will open on Tuesday morning, June 1st at 8AM. Scheduled Monday garbage pickup services will occur on Tuesday June 1st.

Enjoy your holiday and please remember to honor those that have died in the performance of their military service to our country. The VFW Cory Dullum Post 10010 Main Street Park ceremony will start at 11AM at the VFW, 113 W. Main Street in East Helena with the parade to the Main Street Park Servicemembers Monument.

City of East Helena 2021 Growth Policy Update – Approved

The City of East Helena first adopted a growth policy in 2009 and updated it in 2014. In 2020 and early 2021 the East Helena Planning Board, the public, and important stakeholders, with the financial assistance of a Montana Department of Commerce CDBG grant, went through the public process and updated the 2014 Growth Policy. On May 4, 2021, The East Helena City Council held a public hearing and passed a resolution approving the 2021 Update to the East Helena Growth Policy.

Many thanks goes out to the East Helena Planning Board for their efforts to complete the updated Growth Policy as well as the public participants who gave their input and those that took the 2020 public survey.

Additionally, thank you to the Montana Department of Commerce and their CDBG program for the financial assistance.

2021 Growth Policy Update Public Hearing – May 4, 2021

The City of East Helena City Council will hold a public hearing to receive comments on the April 2021 Draft Growth Policy at 7PM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, in Room 108 (Gym) of City Hall, 306 E. Main Street in East Helena.

The City of East Helena Planning Board has prepared a draft update to the East Helena Growth Policy and on March 24, 2021 conducted a public hearing. The East Helena Planning Board has made a recommendation to the City Council to approve the April 2021 Draft Growth Policy.

The City of East Helena Planning Board has prepared a draft update to the East Helena Growth Policy and we invite you to help shape the City’s future by providing comments on the future growth and needs of the City of East Helena. Your opinions are important to this process to identify needs for the City. An electronic copy of the draft Growth Policy can be found in PDF format here and a hard copy can be viewed during business hours in the Administration Department of East Helena City Hall. The East Helena Planning Board will be holding a public hearing on March 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 108 (Gymnasium) at City Hall, 306 East Main Street in East Helena, to gather public input on the future needs of the City of East Helena. Wind Storm Debris Collection

City of East Helena Public Works will be assisting in the pickup of wind storm debris. Branches that are 4ft in length or less and smaller than 4 inches in diameter can be piled in the location that your trash is normally picked-up. Larger branches or trees that have fallen on private property will need to be deposed of by the homeowner and taken to Tri-County Landfill across from Kleffner Ranch on Route 518. For those City of East Helena residents that have not signed up with Tri-County Disposal, please fill out and submit the form available here. A GIS map with Tri-County Disposal’s location is available here. The form is available at City Hall to complete and submit, any questions regarding the form can be directed to the Administration Department at 227-5321.

City Hall Holiday Hours: Open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec 24th & Dec 31st

City Hall hours are from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., however due to the Holidays will be closed from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 24th and all day Christmas day Friday, December 25th. Additionally, City Hall will be closed from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 31st and New Years day Friday, January 1, 2021. Business License Renewals Due January 1st

Renewing or obtaining a business license in East Helena

Business licenses are required for existing businesses, new businesses, and contractors working within the city limits. Licenses expire on January 1st of every year. New business licenses and renewals are $15.00, transient licenses (one-day) are available for $6.00. To obtain or renew your business license please download the Business License Application form and mail it with your payment or visit City Hall during business hours. 2021 Dog License Renewals Due

Renewing or obtaining a dog license in East Helena

January 1, 2021 brings about the need to renew dog tags. Dog tags are required for new dogs and dogs over six months old located within the City limits and proof of rabies vaccination is required for issuance of a dog license. Cost of the tags are $3.00 each for spayed/neutered dogs and $10.00 each for those that are not. Please visit City Hall with your pet’s proof of rabies vaccination to obtain or renew your dog tags or call 227-5321 for more information.
